Porter Classic PC SASHIKO TOTE BAG S
Sashiko originated in Japan during the Edo period.
It was born in the Tohoku region from the wisdom of our ancestors to survive the harsh winters.
At that time, cotton was still a precious commodity, and it began as a way to make cloth last longer by layering and sewing together old pieces of cloth. Over time, the technique evolved from reinforcement and warmth to embroidery that imbued with meaning.
It was used on the clothes and bedding that brides took to their new homes.
It was also used on furoshiki (wrapping cloths) for gifts.
Now, after 400 years of history, Porter Classic offers sashiko in a variety of styles.
